Ohio "S. HATCH / 7th REG / * O.V.M * / 25 CENTS" Sutler Token

SOLD

This Ohio sutler token is quite rare and is marked on one side with "S. HATCH / 7th REG / * O.V.M * / 25 CENTS". The token has a brown patina, is thin, and quite worn. While the mark is difficult to see under regular room lighting, it can be seen under under a good light. It was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it from Cedar Mountain, VA area along with other Civil War relics. The 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry was indeed present at Cedar Mountain and click the preceding link to read a battle report submitted by W.R. CREIGHTON, Col., Comdg. Seventh Ohio Volunteer Infantry and CHARLES CANDY, Comdg. 1st Brig., 2nd Div., 2nd Corps Army of Va. (It should be noted that the report refers to "Cedar Run" as "Cedar Creek" which should not be confused with another Virginia battle that occurred on October 19, 1864). This token will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War token, campsite, or general relic collection.
